The ground-breaking partnership will transform the pitch refurbishment program into a comprehensive talent development platform, providing long-term support for promising U12-15 players from African countries.

TECNO, Official Global Partner of the Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) Morocco 2025, today announced a significant evolution of its flagship soccer charity program, DreamOnTheField, with the launch of the TECNO x CAF “Future Star of Africa” initiative. This announcement represents a pivotal moment in TECNO’s partnership with the Confederation of African Football, which extends beyond infrastructure investment to youth talent development.

This launch demonstrated the TECNO x CAF partnership’s commitment to community engagement and transparency. TECNO executives were present along with CAF Secretary General Beron Mosengo-Omba, soccer legends Yaya Toure and Ahmed Hassan, Nigerian artist and TECNO Power Moment Featured Artist Joeboy, as well as customers and key opinion leaders.

What began as an infrastructure initiative, the Dream On The Field program has now evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem for football development in Africa. The Dream On The Field program launched by TECNO has already completed eight pitch refurbishments and is having a tangible impact across the continent. Seven more projects are currently underway in African countries. Tecno is committed to the ambitious goal of updating 100 pitches across Africa over the next few years and creating a continent-wide network of development centers serving millions of young players.

Today’s announcement of the TECNO x CAF “Star of Africa’s Future” initiative represents a natural evolution of this initiative. By combining pitch infrastructure and youth player development, this collaboration creates a complete pathway from grassroots participation to professional elite development.

“Our partnership with TECNO is much more than just a renovation; it is about building the foundation for a dream,” said Hassan Elkama, Commercial Director of CAF. “From revitalizing pitches to launching Africa’s Future Stars initiative, we are building the path for the next generation.”

This effort builds directly on the DreamOnTheField program as a new extension. This initiative identifies the talent of young African men and women between the ages of 12 and 15 and provides ongoing support and development opportunities until the age of 18. This long-term initiative addresses a critical gap in African football development: the lack of sustained investment in promising young players during their formative years.

“At TECNO, we believe that talent is universal, but opportunity is not,” emphasized Jack Guo, General Manager of TECNO. “Through DreamOnTheField, we have built a stage. Through Future Star of Africa, we ensure performers have everything they need to shine.”

The TECNO x CAF partnership’s approach is intentionally holistic. The refurbished pitch will provide the infrastructure. The selection process provides a pathway. And long-term sponsorship provides ongoing support to turn potential into results. This collaboration extends beyond traditional corporate sponsorship. As the official global partner of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, TECNO positions itself as a long-term stakeholder in the future of African football.

The partnership leverages CAF’s unrivaled expertise in football development and governance and TECNO’s commitment to empowering Africa’s emerging generations through technology and social investment. CAF will appoint a chief technical scout and a senior youth development specialist to ensure professional impartiality in each country, while local juries will include youth coaches from national football associations, sports scientists and TECNO representatives.

“Football is the heartbeat of Africa. It unites us, it inspires us and it changes lives,” said Beron Mosengo-Omba. “At Techno, we are not only improving our facilities, but also investing in talented boys and girls who will carry on the African football tradition.”

Through a joint effort with CAF, players will be evaluated based on comprehensive and professional criteria. The evaluation framework assesses everything from ball mastery and reading of the game to resilience, focus and leadership potential to identify not only talented players but future stars with personalities that will inspire the next generation. Selection results stay within the country rather than making cross-border rounds, allowing each country to recognize and develop its own talent while contributing to the broader continental vision.
