Africa Mining Week (AMW) 2025 will bring together government leaders, investors and industry experts to discuss the future of mining in Africa, with a focus on the transition from rough mining to industrialization and value addition. The event, to be held in Cape Town from 1 to 3 October 2025, will serve as a platform for strategic dialogue and investment opportunities across the continent’s minerals sector.
The meeting is expected to have a strong presence of ministers, including South African Minister of Minerals and Petroleum Resources Gwede Mantashe, Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development and Chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group, Dr. Oladele Arake, and the Ministers of Mines of Ghana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Sudan, Egypt and Chad. These leaders will share insights on national strategies for mineral beneficiation, policy reforms and initiatives designed to maximize the economic potential of Africa’s mineral resources.
Engagement with investors will also be a focus, with panels exploring financing for industrialization in the mining industry, innovation in gold processing, and digitalisation. Executives from African Finance Corporation, World Mining Investments and leading infrastructure investors will provide guidance on funding opportunities and investment strategies, highlighting the growing global interest in Africa’s minerals market.
Country-focused sessions provide deeper insight into national priorities and opportunities. The Ghana Gold Forum will explore refining, innovation and maximizing the country’s gold potential, while the Egypt session will focus on implementing the mineral beneficiation vision. South Africa will host an intense discussion on its strategic role in the global PGM market, highlighting the country’s importance in the energy transition.
In addition to these, AMW 2025 will feature country spotlight presentations from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Chad, South Sudan, Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa and Ghana, providing investors with a deep perspective on market opportunities, regulatory environments and sector-specific strategies across the continent.
The event will also explore the critical link between mining and energy, with panel discussions on balancing renewable and traditional energy sources, technology-driven sustainability in critical minerals, and strengthening supply chains for Africa’s mineral exports. Speakers from companies such as Solink, Juwi Renewables, Terra Firma and the SA-DRC Chamber of Commerce will highlight how innovations in energy management, automation and data analytics are reshaping the mining sector.
The week concludes with a focus on strengthening trade, connectivity and strategic partnerships, highlighting Africa’s growing role in global supply chains and the continent’s potential to drive sustainable economic growth through its mineral resources.
AMW serves as the premier platform for exploring all mining opportunities across Africa. The event will be held in parallel with the Africa Energy Week: Investing in Africa Energy 2025 conference, which will be held in Cape Town from 1 to 3 October.
