Energy Capital & Power (ECP) is proud to announce the launch of the U.S.-Africa Energy Forum (USAEF), an essential event aimed at connecting U.S. investors with Africa’s vast energy opportunities, while strengthening ECP’s flagship conference base across Africa. USAEF, to be held in Houston on August 6-7, 2025, will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and investors to explore the alignment between Africa’s rapidly growing energy sector and U.S. investment potential.

Sponsored by Energy Capital & Power, the forum is proud to work with key partners including Welligence, Texas African Chamber of Commerce, African Energy Chamber, Moore, and S&P Global Commodity Insights to foster industry engagement and collaboration. These partnerships aim to enhance knowledge sharing, market insights and strategic initiatives across the energy sector.

USAEF will serve as a strategic extension of ECP’s flagship events in Tripoli, Brazzaville, Paris, Luanda, Cape Town and more, giving participants access to high-potential African energy projects while leveraging Houston’s role as a global energy hub. By connecting U.S. stakeholders to licensing rounds and investment readiness opportunities on the African continent, this forum will enrich ongoing dialogue and partnerships, culminating in an event for Africa-based ECPs.

The forum will highlight upcoming licensing rounds, brownfield projects, LNG projects and groundbreaking developments from deepwater oil and gas exploration to utility-scale renewable energy, with a focus on dynamic African markets including the Republic of Congo, Libya and Angola. With carefully selected roundtable discussions and in-depth sessions on each market, data presentations, one-on-one investor meetings, private equity and investment roundtables, and in-depth sessions on African minerals and critical resources, USAEF will enable participants to synergize and build connections that resonate across the energy value chain and extend to ECP’s broader events. The program will also feature fireside chats, ministerial panels, and high-level public panels ranging from upstream exploration to downstream refining and trading.

Africa’s energy sector is experiencing unprecedented momentum, solidifying its position as a global leader in upstream investment. Capital investment was $47 billion (up 23% year-on-year), with Africa driving a significant portion of the $125 billion global upstream investment. Nigeria leads the continent with $13.5 billion in investment, and offshore exploration continues at a record pace in Namibia. Ghana is increasing oil and gas production by 10% and 7% respectively, and the $5 billion African Energy Bank is poised to maintain funding for fossil fuel projects. Recent final investment decisions highlight this surge, including the $6 billion Caminho Deep Water Project in Angola, the $5 billion Bonga North Tranche 1 in Nigeria, and the development of large gas fields in Nigeria and the Republic of Congo. Spending on greenfields is expected to outpace brownfields by 10% by 2030, reflecting a strong pipeline of new projects.

As the world’s largest producer of oil and gas and a leader in energy innovation, the United States offers advanced technology, financing mechanisms, and strategic expertise that can accelerate Africa’s energy development. As the energy capital of the world, Houston is uniquely positioned to host USAEF, providing access to more than 4,700 energy companies, a thriving innovation ecosystem, and a strategic network of investors looking to explore Africa’s untapped potential. The event will not only highlight Africa’s opportunities, but also highlight the role of U.S. stakeholders in driving sustainable energy growth on the continent.

“USAEF is more than just an event; it is a gateway to the opportunities we will showcase across Africa. By leveraging Houston’s unparalleled investment ecosystem, USAEF creates a unique pathway for stakeholders to connect, collaborate and lead engagement in innovative partnerships at our Africa-based conference. This event underscores our commitment to driving impactful investment and growth in Africa’s energy future,” said James Chester, CEO of ECP.
