    With just one month left until the much-anticipated MSGBC Oil, Gas and Power 2025 Conference and Exhibition, regional and international stakeholders are gearing up for the MSGBC basin’s major energy and mining event, to be held from December 8 to 10, 2025 at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) in Dakar, Senegal.

    Themed “Africa’s Energy, Oil and Mining: Synergies for Inclusive Economic Development”, the 2025 edition will bring together government leaders, global investors and industry executives to usher in a new era of growth, integration and value creation across Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Conakry.

    Explore opportunities, foster partnerships and remain at the forefront of the oil, gas and power sector in the MSGBC region. A landmark year for regional production

    This year’s event coincides with a landmark moment for the MSGBC basin, with first oil and gas production reshaping the region’s economic trajectory. Senegal has officially achieved its first oil production from the deepwater Sangomar oil field, operated by Woodside Energy in partnership with state-owned Petrosen, marking a new chapter in the country’s industrial development and job creation. Meanwhile, the Greater Tortu-Ahmeim LNG project, led by BP and Kosmos Energy, has reached its first gas milestone, positioning Senegal and Mauritania as pioneers in Africa’s offshore LNG frontier.

    Further updates on the Yakar Teranga project and Bir Allah are expected to highlight the basin’s growing gas potential and cement its position as one of the world’s most dynamic new energy frontiers.

    Energy extraction linkages and economic diversification

    Reflecting the 2025 theme, the conference will highlight synergies between the energy and mining sectors to promote inclusive and sustainable development. The session will focus on Mauritania’s green hydrogen leadership with multi-billion dollar projects led by partners such as HyDeal Ambition and CWP Global. The rapidly growing mining industry in Guinea-Conakry, led by major bauxite and iron ore developments such as Simandou. It also includes cross-sector infrastructure projects such as LNG export terminals, power interconnections, and cross-border pipelines.

    With countries like The Gambia targeting 90% electricity access by the end of 2025, this conference will consider how regional integration and investment can quickly advance universal energy access while supporting industrial growth.

    High-level participation and strategic dialogue

    The event, which will be held under the patronage of Bashir Diomai Fay, President of the Republic of Senegal, will feature ministerial dialogue with top energy leaders from across the basin, including Senegal’s Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, Birameh Suleye Diop. Mohamed Ould Khaled, Minister of Energy and Petroleum of Mauritania. The Gambian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Nani Jwala. Malam Sambu, Minister of Natural Resources of Guinea-Bissau; Mr. Namoly Camara, Minister of Energy, Hydropower and Hydrocarbons of Guinea-Conakry;

    In addition to high-level panel discussions and policy debates, the program includes a technical workshop day on December 8, hosted by the Senegalese Petroleum Technology Association, focused on gas field management, local content and production optimization. At the CEO general meeting, executives, government officials, and financial stakeholders gather to discuss investments privately.

    Executives from Kosmos Energy, Woodside Energy, Africa Fortesa Corporation and S&P Global Commodities Insights are confirmed to share insights on the project pipeline, regional competitiveness and global market outlook.

    Investments, partnerships and local content

    The MSGBC Oil, Gas and Power 2025 Conference and Exhibition will serve as a gateway for investors and policymakers to forge partnerships, accelerate local content development, and advance Africa’s broader energy transition. Local capacity building will be a key focus, with institutions like the National Oil and Gas Institute driving talent development and technology transfer efforts.

    With one month left until MSGBC Oil and Gas Power 2025, we are poised to define the next stage of West Africa’s energy evolution. Connecting leaders, driving investment, and shaping the region’s sustainable and inclusive energy and mining future.
