    Africa Practice, a business consulting and advisory firm, is hiring a senior insight and advocacy consultant in its Nigeria office on a full-time, one-year, fixed-term, renewable contract term.

    Role details and requirements

    The successful candidate will have a proven ability to design and deliver strategic policy advice, manage complex stakeholder collaborations, and design and execute high-impact advocacy and engagement programs for commercial and philanthropic clients aligned with desired objectives.

    The successful candidate will have strong research skills to analyze and provide commercial and policy insights on the energy transition and political economy. They directly translate these key insights into targeted advocacy and engagement programs that increase impact.

    requirements

    At least 8 years of professional experience in an insight field (including political economic analysis, risk and opportunity identification) to support advice on complex policy and regulatory issues in Africa. Proven experience in energy transition analysis and consulting is essential. It is important to understand environmental and sustainability considerations in the oil and gas industry. Expert-level ability to analyze and synthesize detailed political economic, policy, market, and industry intelligence to derive strategic insights. The ability to translate these insights into the design and delivery of high-impact strategic advice and policy advocacy for clients, featuring practical, evidence-based solutions and persuasive arguments that promote alignment and influence policy outcomes. Skilled in monitoring advocacy strategies and outcomes and applying learning to refine strategies, as well as building narratives, campaign efforts, and implementing innovative problem-solving Proficient in stakeholder mapping across regions, coordinating coalitions, and managing relationships at senior levels to advance client objectives Experience supporting pan-continental initiatives and working with or within multilateral organizations, regional agencies, donor programs, or development partners In-depth knowledge of West Africa’s political economy and demonstrated connections to broader political and policy stakeholder systems with a genuine interest and policy stakeholder system Experience in climate change advocacy, particularly energy sector methane mitigation, would be an advantage Degree in a relevant field (public policy, law, sustainable development, economics, energy, environmental science or related social science). Graduate degree preferred
