Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency has revealed that its experts have discovered and neutralized a network of Russian secure military communications terminals operating both on the Ukrainian front line and on the African continent. The discovery, achieved through a combination of technical intelligence tools and operational field techniques, represents another major setback in Russia’s efforts to maintain secure command and control channels across its global military footprint.
According to an official statement, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency monitored the terminals for an extended period of time and exploited the intercepted data to uncover Russian operational plans, troop movements, and command orders. After exhausting the terminal’s informational value, the military made the strategic decision to publicly release its location information and then destroy the terminal in order to further undermine Russia’s ability to coordinate its forces.

The report highlights the increasingly global nature of the war, highlighting that Ukraine’s defense intelligence continues to be successful in uncovering Russian intentions “on every continent of the globe.” Russian military advisors, mercenary organizations, and logistics networks operate far beyond Europe, and the ability to penetrate and track these systems gives Ukraine a significant intelligence advantage.
In the context of high-tech warfare, destroying the enemy’s secure communications infrastructure has become a key capability. The Russian military relies heavily on encrypted battlefield communications systems to coordinate drones, artillery, air support, and logistics. By exposing and eliminating these devices, Ukraine would directly undermine Russian command stability and reduce the speed and reliability of battlefield decision-making.
Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency emphasized that significant efforts are being made to locate, monitor and target Russian command posts and communication hubs. If the operational situation allows, these nodes will be targeted for precision attacks, aimed not only at gathering intelligence, but also at eliminating key elements of the Russian leadership and disrupting control structures.
The network’s dismantling comes amid broader Ukrainian efforts to degrade Russia’s military infrastructure through long-range attacks, electronic warfare operations, and intensive reconnaissance. The ongoing operation aims to spread Russia’s command system across multiple theaters, forcing a reactive posture and undermining operational integrity.
“Nowhere in the world is safe for our enemies,” the agency said, reaffirming Ukraine’s intention to pursue Russian assets and chains of command wherever Russia operates.
