Forbis Mothers supports energy growth in West Africa as bronze sponsor at MSGBC Oil & Gas Power 2025

Financial institution Forbis Mathers has confirmed that it will participate as a bronze sponsor at the MSGBC Oil and Gas Power 2025 conference and exhibition to be held in Dakar from December 9th to 10th. The company will work with regional ministers, investors and industry stakeholders to advance dialogue on energy development across Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea-Conakry.

In July 2025, the Senegalese government tasked the company with conducting a comprehensive audit of the country’s public debt, a portfolio spanning commercial, bilateral and multilateral debt. Senegal’s public debt will reach more than 72% of GDP in 2024, making fiscal sustainability a national priority. Forbis Mathers’ audits aim to assess the accuracy of debt records, compliance with international reporting standards and the effectiveness of the risk management framework. The findings are expected to guide government strategies to reduce debt vulnerabilities while preserving financing for major infrastructure and energy projects.

Explore opportunities, foster partnerships and remain at the forefront of the oil, gas and power sector in the MSGBC region. Meanwhile, in Mauritania, Forvis Mathers was shortlisted for a contract in April 2025 under the Public Enterprise Governance Support Project, financed by the African Development Bank, a pan-African development agency. The $10 million program aims to overhaul the financial management of state-owned companies, many of which play key roles in the energy and mining sectors. The successful bidder will design and implement a new financial oversight system for the Financial Supervisory Authority, strengthen budget oversight, increase transparency, and help curb inefficiencies in the operation of state-owned enterprises. The initiative is part of a broader effort to increase Mauritania’s macroeconomic stability as it develops major projects such as the Bir Allah and Greater Tortu Ameim (GTA) gas fields. The company supports energy operators with audit, tax and advisory services, including landmark projects such as Senegal’s Sangomar oil field, which produced approximately 17 million barrels in its first year, and the cross-border GTA LNG terminal, which delivered its first LNG cargo in April 2025. With over 200 experts in its Dakar office and support from the $5 billion Forbis Mazar international network, the company combines global reach with on-the-ground expertise.

“Forvis Mathers’ participation as a Bronze Sponsor highlights the critical role that financial and advisory expertise plays in advancing the energy future of the MSGBC region. Their involvement supports transparent governance, effective risk management, and the strength to unlock investment. We look forward to their contributions at this year’s conference, which will convene stakeholders to drive sustainable growth across West Africa’s energy sector,” said Sandra Jeke, Project Director at Energy Capital & Power.
