International infrastructure leader Oliver Charles Tunde Andrews, Founder and Executive Chairman of FG Gold and Founder of Boxmoor Group, has been awarded the Outstanding Individual Award at the IJGlobal Awards, recognizing his more than 40 years of leadership in infrastructure development across Africa and emerging markets.

The IJGlobal Awards are widely recognized as one of the most respected global benchmarks for excellence in infrastructure and project finance.

Andrews’ recognition reflects a career that has helped mobilize billions of dollars for transformational projects across power, transportation, renewable energy, mining and industrial development across the African continent.

Throughout his career, he has created over US$100 billion in infrastructure opportunities, directed approximately US$10 billion in investments, and helped deliver projects that enhance energy security, industrial growth and economic opportunity across Africa.

Still, Andrews was quick to emphasize that the award reflects the collaboration of many people who have shaped his journey. “This recognition is very humbling,” he said. “Infrastructure is never built by one person. It is a product of partnerships. Governments, investors, engineers, and communities work together to deliver projects that improve lives.”

Currently, Andrews is the founder and chairman of FG Gold, the company developing the Baomafun Gold Project, one of Sierra Leone’s most significant new mining developments.

The project has already set several industry benchmarks for Sierra Leone, including securing Sierra Leone’s first project financed mine debt package and introducing the first gold streaming finance structure introduced in the country.

In addition, the Baoma Hung Project is pioneering a community development initiative that allocates 1% of gross revenue directly to a community development fund, ensuring that local communities directly benefit from the project’s long-term success.

For Andrews, these innovations reflect a broader philosophy that infrastructure and resource development must deliver lasting social and economic value. “The work we do at FG Gold is the result of an extraordinary team effort,” he said. “I am extremely proud of what the team has achieved and am grateful to the government and people of Sierra Leone for the partnership and trust that made this project possible.”

Prior to starting FG Gold and Boxmoor Group, Mr. Andrews held senior leadership roles at African Finance Corporation (AFC), where he served as Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer, helping the institution emerge as one of Africa’s leading infrastructure financiers.

During his tenure, he led landmark transactions and helped establish the Corporation as a catalyst for private sector investment across the continent.

“Having had the privilege of working as a front-row partner for 18 years with Oliver, we have been blessed with his world-class technical ability, calm under fire, and deep character,” said AFC Founder and CEO Austin Ometluwa. It is clear evidence that his rare blend of yet painstaking leadership has made him one of Africa’s truly heroic entrepreneurs.Oliver Andrews is not just funding Africa’s future; he is redefining it.

Former AFC Chairman Andrew Ali said Andrews’ leadership was instrumental in delivering several pioneering infrastructure projects. “Oliver exhibits a rare combination of integrity, tenacity and humility. He is a leader who guides people and consistently closes deals that others would think impossible. This recognition reflects a life’s work dedicated to the development of Africa.”

Similarly, investment leader Olango Investment Corporation Chairman Paulo Gomez described Andrews as a leader who can translate complex ideas into real-world impact. “Africa needs leaders who can turn ambition into results – leaders who move beyond concepts to real infrastructure, real investment and real change. Oliver is just that kind of leader.”

Throughout his career, Andrews is known as a mentor and institution builder, helping to develop the next generation of Africa’s infrastructure leaders while advocating for sustainable and transparent development models.

After more than 40 years in the field, Andrews continues to push boundaries through projects that combine financial innovation with long-term social impact.

Reflecting on the award, he emphasized that the journey is not yet over. “There’s still a lot of work to do,” he said. “Africa has huge potential and it is exciting to see a new generation of leaders and projects emerging across the continent.”

For the Boxmoor Group, which includes FG Gold and its subsidiaries, the IJGlobal certification is an important milestone and not only celebrates Andrews’ career, but also highlights Sierra Leone’s growing role in responsible resource development and sustainable investment.
