Moniepoint targets food industry with acquisition of Orda

Nigerian fintech company Moniepoint has acquired Orda Africa to expand its business management and payment services to the country’s restaurant industry. This move integrates Orda’s platform into Moniepoint’s ecosystem and strengthens its reach to small and medium-sized businesses.

Orda will be integrated into Moniepoint’s platform Moniebook. Moniebook is an all-in-one bookkeeping and business management solution that allows businesses across Nigeria to manage payments, sales, and inventory on a single platform.

Nigeria’s restaurant industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country. However, infrastructure development to support this growth has lagged behind. Most restaurant owners manage their operations with disconnected systems, manual processes, and limited access to useful data, slowing growth and making it difficult to scale.

Orda has built a platform that solves this problem by organizing payments and inventory management, allowing food service businesses in Nigeria to efficiently manage their operations. As a result of the acquisition, Orda will integrate its payments with Moniepoint’s existing terminals for seamless and secure transactions, while providing businesses with built-in access to performance-based financing backed by Moniepoint Microfinance Bank.

Restaurant owners can keep their operations running smoothly by tracking inventory in real-time across items and locations with inventory level monitoring and automatic reordering. You also get built-in tools to create and manage your brand’s microsite, as well as comprehensive financial reports that provide insight into top-selling products, peak sales times, and best-performing categories. Staff management tools are also included to organize roles and manage system access to streamline operations.

“We are creating a world where all Africans everywhere can experience economic well-being. This is by constantly innovating to ensure that businesses and individuals on our platform have access to the tools, infrastructure and resources that enable them to realize their full potential. Orda is another way into this world. With this platform, food business owners can spend less time on administrative tasks and more time on creating great meals and experiences for their customers.

Guy Futi, Orda CEO: “When I founded Orda five years ago, our mission was simple: to build technology that unifies restaurant operations into a single, modern software platform. It’s designed to give operators clarity, efficiency, and control through integrated products, real-time insights, and systems built for their business. This acquisition advances that vision to more African restaurants than ever before.”

The acquisition comes after Moniepoint raised over $200 million in equity funding in its recently closed Series C funding round. The financing, which closed in October 2025, was led by leading institutional investors including Development Partners International, Google’s Africa Investment Fund, Visa, International Finance Corporation, and Verodo Capital.

The company will use the funding to expand its services across Africa and in international markets, as well as increase its support for businesses seeking integrated financial and operational tools.
