belgrade, serbia, January 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As the recently concluded COP30 sets higher global standards for climate action, China Power Construction Corporation (“POWERCHINA” or the “Company”) is reaffirming its long-term commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) development in Serbia, home of its Eurasia Regional Headquarters (RHQ).

“Our commitment to Serbia’s dynamic growth highlights the tangible impact of strong ESG practices,” said Jan Bo, POWERCHINA’s Principal Representative in Serbia. “Now, more than ever, the world needs sustainable, efficient and inclusive infrastructure. Together with our partners, we will continue to invest in initiatives that advance that sustainable development, which in turn empowers communities and moves the world towards a friendlier future.”

POWERCHINA’s Eurasia RHQ oversees operations across 63 countries and territories. Approximately 85% of the region’s workforce is comprised of local and third-country professionals. Through the many projects POWERCHINA has undertaken in Serbia, it has created over 1,500 jobs and contributed to the revitalization of the local economy.

Since entering the Serbian market in 2012, POWERCHINA has transformed Serbia’s critical infrastructure. The construction of the Belgrade Bypass Section B project is one such highlight. As the project’s main contractor, POWERCHINA also upgraded the drainage and water supply systems of residential areas around the road, speeding up the construction process while improving the quality of life for residents.

Additionally, POWERCHINA supports community connectivity by signing the contract for the construction of Belgrade Metro Line 1, an important long-term transportation link. Since 2019, this cooperation between POWERCHINA and Serbia in the construction of the Belgrade metro system has alleviated chronic congestion and pollution in the city of 1.7 million people, bringing a long-awaited end to the city of Belgrade. In addition, POWERCHINA supported the construction of the Gornji Milanovac bypass. The road will officially open in early October 2024, making it a dedicated route for commercial traffic.

In order to deepen social and cultural engagement, an initiative central to POWERCHINA’s mission, the company began construction on the Serbian National Stadium on May 1, 2024. This is a state-of-the-art facility that supports Serbia’s vibrant sports scene for fans and athletes. Furthermore, POWERCHINA empowers Serbian youth by organizing initiatives such as the “China-Serbia Youth Friendship Dialogue” and helps young people from both countries discover opportunities for growth while strengthening bilateral relations. POWERCHINA’s infrastructure projects also play a culturally important role. For its contribution to the Gornji Milanovac bypass project, POWERCHINA was awarded the Takovo Uprising Gold Medal. This award is an honor established by the Municipality of Gornji Milanovac in recognition of outstanding benefits to the local community.

Environmental protection remains vital to POWERCHINA’s Eurasian strategy. In 2024, POWERCHINA used a total of more than 900,000 tons of low-carbon concrete in the region. Globally, POWERCHINA is contributing to the goal of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

Outside of Serbia, POWERCHINA continues to expand its global portfolio of renewable energy and climate-resilient infrastructure. Most recently, it signed a general contract agreement with Spain’s Viroque Energy for the Areas solar power plant in Cadiz. The power plant is a 44MW project expected to provide 95,000MWh of clean electricity annually.

POWERCHINA remains committed to the business philosophy of “Integrity, Commitment and Win-Win” cooperation throughout its operations. We are committed to delivering high-impact social projects that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
